Kathy Feig
Born in Budapest, Hungary in 1955, Kathy immigrated to Canada with her
parents in 1957. She grew up in Montreal and graduated from Trafalgar School.
Since 1979 her love has been calligraphy and the related arts.
Her studies began in Montreal at the Saidye Bronfman Centre.
Since then, she has travelled to several conferences and workshops and studied with
Austrian, British, German and American Masters.
Kathy taught at the Saidye Bronfman Center, the Visual Arts Center
Miss Edgars and Miss Cramps School, as well as privately and at several
community centres in Montreal, Hemmingford and Sutton.
Clients have included Abbott Laboratories, Air Canada,
the Canadian Cardiovascular Society, Concordia Alumni Association,
the Jewish General Hospital, the City of Westmount, State of Israel Bonds,
the Quebec Ministry of Tourism and Seagrams.
From 1980 to 1997, Kathy worked with La Société des Calligraphes de Montréal
alternating years as Newsletter Editor, Exhibitions Coordinator and
Workshop Coordinator. From 1995-1997, she served as President.
Kathy promotes the Italic Handwriting system and believes it should be
adopted by all school boards across Canada.
In 1999 she dedicated her time to work with Betty McKay MacKenzie
and the Hemmingford Historical Archives, compiling and designing a 600 page history book,
"Two Hundred Years of Hope & Challenge", for the community bicentennial celebration.
Shortly after the book was published, Kathy and her family moved to Sutton.
On July 5, 2003, together with her husband, Robin, opened
Galerie Charmante
a gallery dedicated to promoting new artists, calligraphy and the related arts.
Presently, Kathy is accepting commissions,
teaching and planning future exhibits.
